Ranking the March 1st Sets by Anticipation

Fans of LEGO Star Wars have been excited for 2024 with good reason. The LEGO Star Wars theme and Star Wars: The Phantom Menace are celebrating their 25th anniversary. March will bring in five new sets for the subtheme's anniversary. I will be giving my personal ranking of which sets I'm looking forward to the most.

5. Tantive IV

This upcoming lineup is so good that it was hard for me to pick my least anticipated. Overall, I'm really excited to get my hands on the Tantive IV and place it on the shelf beside my midi-scale Executor. The drawback is that the Tantive IV is not as iconic as the Millennium Falcon or new as the Invisible Hand.

4. Millennium Falcon

The amount of detail for this midi-scale model is very impressive. The greeble gives the ship a fleshed out feel that exudes accuracy. This Millennium Falcon could almost pass as a small UCS set. I can't wait to get it in my hands and compare it with my full-sized Falcon.

Any collector of LEGO Star Wars will probably have a version of the Millennium Falcon already. With the Falcon represented in micro-fighter, playset size, and UCS format it may not be the most exciting on the list. Being a huge fan of the classic ship and its immense detail, I'm excited to see this set in person.

3. Invisible Hand

This is the first LEGO representation of the Invisible Hand or any Providence-class Dreadnought. The promotion pictures depict a very accurate set in its midi-form. The color and Separatist logos are implemented well. This set also has the unique function of splitting in half to represent the events of Episode III when Anakin, Obi-Wan, and the Chancellor Palpatine crashes down to Coruscant.

The Prequel Trilogy has so many creative and unique vehicles. The Invisible Hand is a great example of this and it stands out from the rest. This is the midi-scale set I am looking forward to the most.

2. Boarding the Tantive IV

Every Star Wars fan can picture the opening scene from A New Hope. It begins with the Devastator pursuing the Tantive IV to seeing C-3PO and R2-D2 rushing down the hall. Nothing may be more iconic than the Stormtroopers busting through the door, blasters blazing and mowing down the Rebels. Then the menacing entrance of Darth Vader.

Recreating this scene and Captain Antilles interrogation is something that needed a proper portrayal. This new LEGO set looks like it will deliver. It has been a long time since we've seen multiple standard Rebel soldiers in a set. To celebrate the anniversary there is a seventh figure of the highly demanded Fives clone trooper. He's outfitted with dual pistols, a fabric pauldron, and lots of detailed printing.

The set is a great nostalgic piece that I want to recreate some of the most iconic scenes in the franchise. The Fives minifigure is a cherry on top that will make a great collectable piece. Overall, it's hard to wait for this set to release.

1. R2-D2

The most iconic droid returns in March! The buildable R2-D2 is my most anticipated set of the month. This may be a surprise since we just got the black label, buildable R2-D2 not too long ago. However, there is some argument that the new R2-D2 looks better in some aspects. Personally, I really like how good the dome looks and the balance of studs and tiled spaces. This R2-D2 is a moderate size that makes it easier for displaying with limited space.

R2-D2 isn't working alone though. Darth Malak, another 25th anniversary exclusive figure, makes his debut in LEGO form. As a big fan of the Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) video game series, Darth Malak is a dream come true. The amount of detail for his design and custom headgear is unmatched.

Together, this set deserves all the hype for a solid March wave. Let me know what is your most anticipated set!
